Auditions for Beauty and the Beast

**********A*U*D*I*T*I*O*N*S**********

Southwest Playhouse and directors Jill Berrong and Elizabeth McLean announce auditions for this tale as old as time, “Beauty and the Beast.”

Auditions will be by video submission. If you are interested in being considered for “Beauty and the Beast,” please send a video or video link (from YouTube or Vimeo) of yourself singing your best 16 bars (approximately 30 seconds) from the character for which you are auditioning. If you are auditioning for more than one character, you may select 16 bars from one of the other characters of interest and submit a second video. Please limit vocal video submissions to your top two preferences. Prepare a monologue that is 30-60 seconds in length (this may also come from the movie, Beauty and the Beast). If you are auditioning for a character that has an accent (Lumiere and Babette - French; Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts and Madame De La Grande Bouche - British), please showcase this accent in your monologue.

For best results, place your recording device on a stationary object, such as a tripod or table. Do not tape a close-up; have your entire body (from head to toe) in the frame. Prior to recording, test that you are in focus and well lit, and that your video is free from distracting background noise. State your name, age, and role(s) for which you would like to be considered.

***All video auditions should be submitted to jillsy007@yahoo.com no later than 8 p.m. October 30.***

Included in your e-mail, list any conflicts October 30 - February 20. A confirmation e-mail will be sent with an audition form to complete. If you are unable to complete a video submission, but would like to audition, please e-mail Jill Berrong at jillsy007@yahoo.com for alternative arrangements.

Call backs will be held in person, if needed, Monday, November 1 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Southwest Playhouse.

If you are interested in being part of “Beauty and the Beast” in some other capacity, please e-mail jillsy007@yahoo.com with your area of interest.

Rehearsals for November and December will be weekend rehearsals for music and choreography. They are scheduled November 6, 7, 20, and 21, and December 4 and 5. The rehearsals for January-February are to be determined.

Synopsis

“The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed into his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.” - Music Theatre International
